Transport Operators in Hoima Tax and Bus parks are demanding for the election of the new leadership after the term of office of the current leaders expired about two years ago.
In a meeting with the leaders of Hoima East Division on Wednesday, the drivers resolved that the election process be conducted to have a new leadership in place.
Bosco Muhanuzi Byabagambi, the mayor for Hoima East Division says a section of drivers petitioned his office early this month expressing concern over lack of legitimate leadership in the park.
He observed that leadership is key for every institution adding that although government suspended the formal tendering process of parks and tax levies but internal mechanisms like leadership for internal management should be place.
He welcomed the idea of electing new leaders saying they are going to kick-start the process soon.
Dema Gabriel, the central ward councillor and Chairperson for finance, Planning and Administration at the division called for co-existence between drivers and business community who operate in the park but also turn up in big numbers when called to vote.
