Masindi LC1 Chairperson Dies while Inspecting Garden

The LC1 Chairperson of Nyangahya cell in Masindi Central division in Masindi Municipality, Masindi district has died after collapsing in her garden.

Rose Cissy, 77, collapsed and died while inspecting her garden of beans in Nyangahya cell in Masindi town on Wednesday morning.

David Ruha, a neighbor, says that Cissy woke up on Wednesday morning in good health and proceeded to the bean garden to inspect her crops that had been destroyed by hailstorm, only to collapse and die while in the garden.

Augustus Bigiryenkya, the secretary for health for Masindi Central division who is also a resident of the area says they were shocked by the sudden death of the area LC1 Chairperson whom he describes as a unique leader who served her people with utmost love.

Cleopas Isingoma, the area LC1 Vice Chairperson says they have lost a leader who was trustworthy and hardworking saying her contributions to the area residents will never be forgotten.

Isaac Bongomin, the LC3 Chairperson Masindi central division says the deceased was a principled and developmental leader.

At the age of 77, Cissy was one of the longest serving local Council 1 Chairpersons in the entire Masindi district. She started serving in the same capacity in 1986.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson confirmed Cissy’s sudden death adding that her body was picked from the garden by the locals and handed over to the relatives.
