Hoima District Health Department Starts Distribution of 7,000 Doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccines

The Hoima District Health Department has embarked on distributing more Covid-19 vaccines to various vaccination points to enable the public easily access vaccination services.

This comes days after Hoima District Health Department received another consignment of over 6,990 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Health Ministry.

Dr. Lawrence Tumusiime, the Hoima district Health officer says the health ministry delivered about 7,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines in the district on Friday.

He says the health officials have already embarked on the distribution of the vaccines to the including vaccination points including Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, Kigorobya Health Center IV, Bujumbura Health Center III, Buseruka Health Center III, Mparangasi Health Center III, Azur Health Center IV and Kabaale Health Center III among others.

Tumusiime has called upon the populace to embrace vaccination saying that un-vaccinated people may in the near future be barred from accessing public offices. He says they have also extended the vaccination points to churches and other places of worship to ensure that people access the services effectively.
Hoima district ran out of the COVID-19 Vaccines early this week amidst surging cases in both the city and district.

Last month the health ministry delivered 2,562 doses of Moderna and 650 doses of AstraZeneca to serve people in the city and the entire district respectively but the doses got finished on Tuesday.

This compelled the district health department to immediately notify the health ministry demanding for more vaccines.

Currently more than 15,000 people have so far been vaccinated in the district together with the city since the vaccination exercise kicked off in the country.
