Kitoba LC3 Boss Orders Two Women Group Leaders to Refund UWEP Missing Funds

The LC3 Chairperson of Kitoba Sub County in Hoima district has ordered two women group leaders under Uganda Women Entrepreneurship (UWEP) program to refund the money that was meant to benefit all members of the groups.

This was during a special meeting that was held at Kitoba Sub county headquarters on Monday afternoon aimed at unearthing the irregularities surrounding the use and access of the funds under the program in the sub county.
The affected groups are Iseisa Products Processing Women’s group and Tugonzangane Birungu Parish Women Group.

It is alleged that the chairperson and the secretary of Iseisa Products processing women’s group received 6 million and 2million respectively leaving out others group members. Meanwhile, a fake women’s group under Tugonzangane Birungu women’s group was created and received 5 million which also left out other members of the original group.

Kaliisa Elisha, Kitoba Sub County Chairperson directed that no money from any group should be released without proper books of accounts, warning group leaders on corruption tendencies.

Kabagambe Samuel Byeitima, the Speaker Kitoba Sub County says there is a lot of mismanagement of funds under the project. He calls on residents to report all issues related to embezzlement of public funds and other corruption tendencies under the project.
