Local leaders in Buhimba town council in Kikuube district have expressed concern over what they termed as poor quality of Operation Wealth Creation inputs that were supplied to farmers in the area.
This after the farmers in Buhimba town council rejected over 55 sacks of Cassava stems which was two weeks ago delivered at Buhimba community Hall. The inputs are currently drying up at the hall.

Musa Mugisa, the Mayor of Buhimba town council says the inputs were rejected by farmers on grounds that they were supplied late as the planting season was nearing the end hence there were fears they could not germinate.
He also accused the suppliers for supplying poor quality inputs.

Kasanga Bigirwa and Suzan Kabasindi, the male and female councilors for Buhimba town council respectively have demanded that the supplier takes back the poor quality inputs to avoid wastage of tax payer’s money.
They blamed the continued mess in the implementation of OWC program on lack of involvement of local leaders, district technical department and the beneficiaries in the selection of suppliers for the inputs.

The Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amlan Tumusiime condemned the supplier one Brice Ajuna for supplying poor quality agricultural inputs. Tumusiime has vowed to make sure that the supplier refunds the monies that were paid to him by government.

Captain Benjamin Mugonzagane, the coordinator OWC Kikuube and district production officer Barnabus Ntume says they are not in-charge of procurement of the inputs. They explained that procurement is done by NAADS secretariat adding the role of the district and OWC is to receive and supply the inputs.
Ntume says that Kikuube district received 1220 sacks of cassava stem adding that only Buhimba town council rejected the inputs.
