Nine candidates have been nominated to contest in the local government residual and by-elections in Hoima District.
Speaking to Spice FM, Merab Kasande, the Hoima district returning officer says of the nine candidates, five are unopposed.
Apart from the position of Kigorobya male PWD councilor where the recently elected representative one Solomon passed on, other six positions have been vacant.
The other positions are for councilors in Bulindi Central B in Kyabigambire sub-county, Kisukuma B parish for Kusukuma sub-county, Kigorobya sub-county for special interest group and in Kigaga parish for Kabaale sub-county among others.
She says campaigns will run for 13 days from Friday this week to 14 and elections will be held on December, 16.
Vicente Savana Muhumuza, the Hoima NRM Vice Chairperson says that seven party candidates were this afternoon flagged off to kick off their campaigns.
