Boda boda riders operating in Mabaale and Kagadi town councils in Kagadi district have protested the release of two suspected motorcycle thieves.
The two suspects were arrested by Boda Boda riders last Friday after allegedly stealing a motorcycle registration number UFC 623/L from one Joachim Bainomugisa in Kaitembe, Mabaale Sub County.
The two are alleged to have hired Bainomugisa to take them to Burora Sub County but turned against him and took away his motorcycle forcefully.
They were later intercepted by angry cyclists who beat them up before handed them to police.
However, the suspects were over the weekend released by police to the dismay of boda boda riders.
On Monday, led by their chairpersons Omara Tadeo and Amuza Ategeka, the cyclists stormed Kagadi central police station demanding an explanation from the police on why the suspects were released even before being taken to court yet they had presented enough evidence to pin them on the charge of theft.
However, the O/C operations Kagadi Central police station, Charles Mubala denied the allegations, saying the suspects escaped from Kagadi general hospital where they had been rushed to receive treatment.
