An 18-year-old girl in Kakumiro district is accusing her maternal uncle of incest and procuring abortion.
The victim who name has been withheld is a resident of Kihanga village in Kakindo sub county, Kakumiro district.
She says in October 2021, her maternal uncle Abudu Mugisa in his 50s, a resident of Kyabajumira-Wansisa village in Kakindo sub county asked her parents to let her take care of his children after separating with the wife.
She however pins Mugisa of forcing her into sexual intercourse two weeks later and threatening to kill her in case she reports him.
The victim adds that she conceived but the uncle forced her to take abortion herbs leading to stomach complications and bleeding.
Prince Mupenzi, a brother to the victim says her sister was rushed to St Mary’s Health Center IV in Kakindo town council for better medical attention after her condition worsened.
Mupenzi adds that he reported the matter to Kakindo Police Post but they are yet to get justice.
He says the suspect was earlier this year arrested but later released
Meanwhile, the accused Mugisa has denied the allegations noting that the victim is instead his wife and they are legally married.
