BUWODEN to Train Over 500 Youth in Bunyoro in Human Rights, Skills Development

Bunyoro Women Development Network (BUWODEN) in partnership with Strategic Smart Partnership and UNIFREIGHT has launched a campaign aimed at empowering female youth to be able to tap in the oil and gas sector.
The one year initiative dubbed “Causal workers training, job placement and women clusters was this afternoon launched by the Hoima city Mayor Brian Kaboyo.

Speaking during the launch which attracted over 150 participants from Bunyoro region, the executive director for BUWODEN, Sylvia Nalumanga Balyesima says the initiative is targets over 500 beneficiaries for the first phase.
She says the beneficiaries will be trained for two months in hospitality, trailoring, liquid soap making, health and safety and business management.

She adds that under the initiative, the youth will also be empowered on how to defend their rights.
She notes that the rights of several youth especially females are always violated sexually, physically and emotionally at their places of work.

Jennifer Mwizukye, the Chief Executive Officer UNIFREIGHT says the partnership was initiated after identifying gaps in regard to skilling female youth for the oil and gas industry.
