Police in Kyankwanzi District are investigating the aggravated defilement and death of a 10-year-old girl by an unidentified person. Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Public Relations Officer, says that the deceased was defiled on February 10, 2022, around 7 pm.

Kawala notes that the former primary three pupil at Bambala primary school returned home from school before proceeding to buy sugarcane in the next trading centre where she stayed for some time at her uncle’s place.

It is alleged that on her way back home around 7 pm, she met an unidentified motorcyclist who deceived her that her mother had sent him to go with her and pick a bunch of bananas from the garden along Muwangi – Ntwetwe Road.

According to Kawala, the girl climbed the motorcycle. However, upon reaching near a coffee plantation belonging to one Nsabimana, the rider forcefully removed the minor from the motorcycle and pulled her to the coffee plantation where he aggressively defiled her.

The minor remained unconscious until 8 pm when she regained her conscience and walked back home slowly. She narrated the ordeal to her mother, who also informed the police, which opened a case of aggravated defilement at Ntwetwe Police Station.

The girl was rushed and admitted to Ntwetwe Health Centre IV where she died on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Kawala says that they have started hunting for the suspect and advised parents to always take extra care of their children.
