Shock as 15-Year-Old Commits Suicide in Hoima City

A female Primary Seven leaver on Wednesday committed suicide by hanging few hours after receiving her Primary Leaving Examination results in Kinuubi East cell, Bwikya ward Hoima East Division in Hoima Oil City.
The deceased has been identified as Daphne Kimuli aged 15, a daughter to Julius Rukendezi of Kirumba village, Bwijanga Masindi.

The girl who sat her Primary Seven exams last year at Bwikya Muslim Primary school reportedly went to school on Tuesday to pick her results which indicated she had passed in division three with 28 aggregates.
A close relative said upon returning home, she looked unhappy and during the night, she sneaked outside only to discover her body hanging on a rope in a jackfruit tree behind their home.
The deceased however left a note with a neighbor indicating she was tired of the rumormongers around which prompted her to committee suicide.

In the note, she accuses one madam Jessica of spreading harmful rumors about her in the neighborhood. The note was read before journalists.

Residents however turned rowdy against Jessica after being implicated of having been the source of the deceased’s predicament.

Sam Bigabwenkya, the area cell chairman condemned the act and asked parents to always counsel their children on how to react on certain aspects of life.
Another neighbor claimed the girl could have been pregnant.
This is a second suicide incident in the area in a space of less than two months. In early May, a driver one Serumbaga also committed suicide by hanging.
