The Masindi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ms Rose Kirabira, has blamed leaders for the current rampant environmental destruction in Bunyoro sub-region.

Speaking during a meeting she organised for Bwijanga Sub-county chairpersons about service delivery in their respective areas, the challenges they face at the same time implementing government programmes, the RDC noted that leaders have played a passive role against environmental degradation resulting in the present change in weather pattern.

She wondered that several wetlands and forests especially in Bunyoro continue to be encroached on and destroyed yer leaders are indecisive to take action against the perpetrators; attributing the current long dry spell in the sub-region to environmental obliteration.
