Thugs Steal 7 Solar Panels from Kihungya Health Center II

Longino Bahebwa, the Buliisa Resident District Commissioner-RDC has ordered Everlyne Ahebwa, the in-charge of Kihungya Health center II to immediately record a statement with police over the disappearance of seven solar panels from the health facility.

It is alleged that unidentified thugs raided Kihungya Health Center II in Kihungya village Kihungya sub-county on Sunday night and made off with the solar panels living the health center and staff quarters in darkness.

Bahebwa says that despite the theft of the solar panels, the health center management remained tight-lipped on the matter not until Wednesday when he directed the Health Center in charge to record a police statement.

He questions how the thugs accessed the health facility yet some staff sleep there. Kenneth Tumusiime, the Kihungya Sub county LC 3 Chairperson also wondered how the panels were stolen yet the government deployed a guard at the health center.

He said the sub-county leadership is following up on the matter to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. The Health Center in charge, Everlyne Ahebwa has faulted the government for failing to recruit a guard at the facility.

She explained that the guard deployed at the facility resigned last year, which she communicated to the district but nothing was done. Ahebwa noted that they are currently using candles in the maternity ward to attend to expectant mothers following the theft of the solar panels.
