The body of a 15-year-old boy has been found dumped in a river in Kikuube District. The deceased has been identified as Pascal Kwesiga, a resident of Kyanungu village Kyangwali sub-county.
According to the deceased’s father Edward Mbabazi, his son disappeared from home on Saturday evening and did not return home, which prompted him to report a case of a missing person at Kyangwali Police Station.
John Tibenda, the area LCI Chairperson explains that area residents embarked on searching for Kwesiga since Saturday but were shocked to discover his body dumped in River Nyabugoye which is situated within the same village.
The body had deep cuts on the head and chest, an indication that the deceased could have been killed by unknown assailants who hacked him to death before dumping his body in the river.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says that the police joined the residents in retrieving the body from the river. The body was later taken to Kikuube Health center IV for postmortem.
He says investigations into the murder of Kwesiga have already been launched adding that so far, no suspect has been arrested.
