Unidentified assailants have shot dead a pump attendant at a Pastor’s pump fuel station in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Kikuube district. The pump station is located in Kyebitaka village in the refugee settlement.
The deceased identified as Pacific Karuna, a Congolese national was gunned down by assailants around 8pm.
According to sources that preferred anonymity, two men approached Pacific and asked him for money but when he refused to hand over the money, they shot him. Sources add that the assailants after the shooting took off.
Residents mounted a search but could not find them. The locals managed to recover one motorcycle that they suspect had been left behind by the assailants that was recovered at a bodaboda stage near the pump station.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying the assailants were dressed in black clothes and masks armed with one riffle.
He adds that police has mounted the search for the suspects who are currently on the run.
Pacific’s body is lying at Kyangwali Health Centre IV mortuary pending postmortem.
