A man in Kiryandongo is at large for allegedly hacking his mother-in-law to death. The suspect is Muhamood Muzama, 25, a resident of Kiroko village in Kiryandongo sub-county, Kiryandongo district.

He reportedly raided the home of Alice Naguta 59, in Kibyama village in Mpumwe parish in Kigumba sub-county around 12:30 am on Wednesday and hacked her to death. He hacked his victim severally in the back and neck killing her instantly.

Muzama allegedly accused his mother-in-law of trying to dissolve their marriage with her daughter identified as Caroline Khakai.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson says Muzama married Khakai in 2017 but their marriage has been unstable following a series of misunderstandings.

This prompted Khakai to break up with the suspect and return to her mother’s home. Hakiza explains that for long, Muzama has been pleading with the mother-in-law to allow his wife to return to his home in vain. This compelled him to raid his in-law’s home and hack her to death. Nagata was alone by the time of the attack.

Area residents found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood inside her house and notified the police. Picked up the deceased’s body and delivered it to Kiryandongo general hospital pending post-mortem.

According to Hakiza, once arrested, they will arraign the suspect in court for murder. Caleb Wafula, a resident of the area explains that for a longtime Muzama has been threatening to kill his mother-in-law accusing her of frustrating their marriage.
