Heavy Deployment at Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Headquarters

There is heavy deployment of the Anti-riot police and the Uganda Peoples Defense forces-UPDF soldiers at the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom premises in Hoima city.
The Anti-riot police and the UPDF deployment is visible at the Kingdom headquarters, at the entrance of the Omukama’s palace and inside the palace.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the deployment of the officers saying they received intelligence-led information that some people opposed to the leadership of Andrew Kirungi Byakutaga, the Prime minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom were planning to go and cause commotion at the Kingdom headquarters on Monday afternoon.

He says the deployment is aimed at protecting the King, his workers, property and to restore peace within the Kingdom.

Andrew Byakutaga, the embattled Kingdom prime minister explained that they sought heavy deployment from the police after receiving a number of threats from some people, saying they cannot take such a situation lightly.

The Bunyoro Kitara prime minister is under fire from the Babiito clan members who are the ruling clan of the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

On Sunday, the Babiito clan members through the Okwiri Fred Mugenyi Ruchunya ordered Byakutaga to immediately vacate office.

According to a January 30th, 2022 letter seen by Spice FM, the ruling clan members in their meeting chaired by Okwiri Fred Mugenyi Ruchunya at Karuziika palace in Hoima City on January 29th, 2022 resolved to suspend Byakutaga from running the Kingdom affairs until further notice.
