Hunger Looms in Buliisa as Wild Animals Ravage Crop Gardens

By George Tinka

Leaders in Buliisa district are calling for government intervention over a looming food shortage after wild animals from Murchison Falls National Park destroyed hundreds of acres of gardens.

Ngwedu Sub county, Bulisa Sub County and Bulisa Town council are the most affected areas with wild animals mostly elephants destroying crop gardens.

Speaking during the launch of the Parish Development Model-PDM at Buliisa district headquarters, Allan Atugonza, the Member of Parliament for Bulisa Constituency says PDM beneficiaries who would like to invest in crop farming might incur loses should government fail to mitigate effects of the wild animals that ravage crop gardens.
