Police in Kyangwali has arrested two suspects on allegations of theft.
The suspects have been identified as Mugisha Asiimwe, and Edward Muguta all residents of Nyakasozi cell in Kasozi parish, Kyangwali Sub County in Kikuube District.
According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, Mugisha and Muguta on Monday night waylaid one Mbabazi aged 21 years, a businessman and resident of the same area with a panga and threatened to cut his neck which prompted him to offer Sh1.8m to the suspects before he was pushed to the ground and sustained injuries on the hand as the suspects ran away.
Prior to the incident, Mbabazi a produce dealer sold maize at a cost of Sh500,000 and added the money to what he had earlier making a total of Sh1.8m. He went to a bar in where he met Mugisha Asiimwe, one David and Edward Muguta and bought them Natu drink. In the process of paying for the drinks, he pulled out all the money which his friends saw.
Mbabazi later went to a pork joint to at around 11pm but when he came back to the bar, he did not find the three men hence he decided to go home.
While on his way home, he was attacked by the three who were hiding in a swamp.
Hakiza says Mbabazi reported a case at Kyangwali police station that commenced investigations leading to the arrest of the suspects on Thursday.
Criminal cases in Kyangwali are on raise and the public have been requested to work and avoid engaging in criminal acts.
