Songstress Stabua Natooro recently made a significant move in her music career, shifting from the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) to join the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) based in Mutundwe. Her decision to switch affiliations was driven by a desire for more substantial support and a response to perceived shortcomings in her previous association.Natooro candidly expressed her reasons for leaving UMA, citing a lack of the assistance she needed from the National Theatre-based organization. During her tenure with UMA, she claimed to have seen little in terms of support and financial benefits, which left her feeling undervalued and unsupported.
Even when she made inquiries through phone calls, Natooro claimed she often received no response at all, a situation that left her increasingly disheartened with the leadership and operations of the association. This disappointment ultimately led her to make the difficult decision to part ways with UMA.
The “Tujanjawaze” singer has now found her musical home with UNMF, and she is optimistic about the opportunities it offers. However, she also issued a warning, stating that if she encounters similar issues with UNMF in the future, she won’t hesitate to make another move.
Stabua Natooro’s journey showcases the importance of artists finding the right support systems to foster their careers and creativity.
