Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, is basking in the joy of returning to her official duties on Monday after the heartwarming arrival of twin boys on October 23, 2023. Amidst a sea of smiles and well-wishes, Among, dressed in a striking blue attire, was greeted with a fragrant bouquet of flowers as she entered Parliament.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the Speaker expressed her gratitude for the warm reception she received from her colleagues and the dedicated staff at Parliament following her leave of absence.
During her time away, she and her husband, Moses Magogo, President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations and Member of Parliament for Budiope East, were blessed with the arrival of two “lovely” twins. Anita Among extended her heartfelt appreciation to all those who had offered their prayers and love during this special time.
Amidst the warm embraces and joyous celebrations of her return, the Speaker also took a moment to acknowledge her deputy, Thomas Tayebwa, whom she fondly referred to as her “good brother,” for his steadfast leadership in her absence. She concluded her remarks with a heartfelt prayer, wishing abundant blessings from the Almighty God upon all those present.
The journey to motherhood was made even more remarkable when Among shared the news of her pregnancy with none other than Pope Francis during a meeting in Rome in August 2023.
She requested the Pope’s blessing for her unborn child, to which he graciously responded with a sign of the cross, marking a special moment in her pregnancy journey.
Anita Among and Moses Magogo exchanged their vows in a private ceremony in Kampala in August the previous year. Before that, she had officially introduced her fiancé in a discreet ceremony held in Bukedea district, creating a heartwarming prelude to their wedding day.
