For approximately four years, the dynamic duo of MC Kats (Edwin Katamba) and Flavia Tumusiime co-hosted a teens show on a TV station owned by Gordon Wavamunno.
However, the partnership came to an end when Flavia suggested they leave Teens Club on WBS, citing the need for a new direction as they were becoming more seasoned. Kats, engrossed in a burgeoning emceeing career and supporting his then-burgeoning relationship with Fille Mutoni, found the decision to depart relatively straightforward.
Following their exit from WBS, Kats took a hiatus from TV for about a year and a half. It was during this break that he encountered Mike Shimoli, a director at Nation Media, the Nairobi-based company that owned NTV Uganda.
In a pivotal meeting at Blue Africa, they hatched the plan for “NTV Exposed,” a groundbreaking entertainment show that Kats hosted before eventually joining NBS TV. Notably, NTV, at the time, primarily focused on news.
Kats, a seasoned events emcee, traced his educational journey from Namilyango Primary School to Busoga College Mwiri, Makerere Highway College, Kitante Hill Senior Secondary School, Makerere High School, and UMCAT School of Journalism, where he obtained a Certificate in Journalism and Mass Communication.
With a media career spanning approximately 16 years, Kats has left an indelible mark. From WBS to NTV Uganda and eventually NBS TV, he has evolved into one of the country’s most esteemed entertainment show hosts.
His plan to retire from emceeing is set to culminate in a final two-day event on December 2 and 3, 2023, marking the end of an era in his illustrious career.
